Check-in to your waterfront room at MACq01 and enjoy a free evening to explore the historic Hobart harbour area. We recommend dinner tonight at one of the great restaurants at MACq 01 or Henry Jones Art Hotel in the historic IXL buildings across the road.
After breakfast, meet your driver-host at reception for your journey to Mt Field National Park. Today's walk will be tailored to your preference, with the option to discover one of Tasmania's most photographed waterfalls on a gentle 6 km (2 hour) walk taking in both Russell Falls and Lady Barron Falls, and/or to walk a section of the Tarn Shelf track taking in Lake Dobson. Featuring some of the world's tallest trees and mossy rainforest scenery, along with alpine vistas, today's walks are the perfect introduction to your wilderness escape. On arrival at Pumphouse Retreat, check-in to your exclusive lakeside Retreat and enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine or cocktail from your private larder/mini-bar by the fire. Dinner is a share table three course affair with fellow guests in the Shorehouse. After you may like to stargaze from your outdoor tub by the lake.

Breakfast at Pumphouse is a cosy affair with guests gathering in the Shorehouse to enjoy coffee by the fires and a highland breakfast as you watch the birds flit across the lake. After a peaceful start to your day, set off with your guide to the trailhead at Cynthia Bay for your morning walk to Shadow Lake. This beautiful 13km circuit walk takes in the best walking in the Lake St Clair half of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park including Shadow and Forgotten Lake. Time permitting, you may like to extend your walk by visiting Platypus Bay, which is the perfect spot for a picnic lunch by the lake. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive creature while your guide sets up your picnic. After lunch, your guide is on hand for tailored touring this afternoon, which might include a visit to nearby Franklin River-Wild National Park for a one hour walk to a viewing platform. On return to the Retreat, relax by one of the fires before meeting guests for dinner in the Shorehouse.

Enjoy breakfast in the Shorehouse dining room, with highland fare to start your day. This morning is another chance to discover the beauty of Lake St Clair, with a guided 10 km (3 hour) walk following the edge of Lake St Clair out to Echo Point. This walk covers a small section of the Overland Track. From Echo Point you'll take a 20 minute water transfer back to Cynthia Bay and have the chance to view Lake St Clair and its surrounding mountains from the water. After you'll be whisked back to the Retreat in time to enjoy a warming lunch including freshly baked hot bread straight from the oven delivered to your room. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the trails, e-bikes and row boats offered at Pumphouse Point. Your larder of local cheese and wines will keep you well fuelled for your adventures. A final dinner at the Shorehouse concludes your day at Lake St Clair.

This morning there is no rush. Sleep in, explore another lake or bush trail, and enjoy breakfast by the fire before your driver-host meets you late morning for your transfer to Hobart.
