Starts and finishes in Hobart
You set off from Hobart this morning arriving at Mt Field National Park before lunch. Today's walk follows a section of the Tarn Shelf track up to Lake Dobson and Rodway Hut before circling back and taking in the beautiful Pandani Grove. The alpine vistas are sure to impress on a trail that is considered one of Tasmania's best day walks. Time permitting we will also visit Russell Falls, which is one of the most photographed waterfalls in Tasmania. This area is filled with mossy rainforest scenery and features some of the world's tallest trees. On arrival at Pumphouse Retreat, check-in to your room with a view and enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine with your Walk into Luxury host in one of the Pumphouse lounges overlooking the lake. Here about what's in store for your time at Lake St Clair, before moving to the Shorehouse Building for dinner. Your host will ensure you are settled in with Tasmanian wine to accompany your three course share style dinner before wishing you goodnight.

Breakfast at Pumphouse is a cosy affair with guests gathering in the Shorehouse to enjoy coffee by the fire and a highland breakfast as you watch the birds flit across the lake. After a peaceful start to your day, set off with your guide to the trailhead at Cynthia Bay. Today we enjoy a 13km circuit walk taking in the best walking in the Lake St Clair half of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park including Shadow Lake and Forgotten Lake. After a local trail lunch, we visit nearby Franklin River-Wild National Park for a one hour walk to a viewing platform with captivating views of the Franklin and Collingwood River and Frenchman's Cap. On return to the Retreat, relax by one of the fires with a pre-dinner before meeting fellow guests for dinner in the Shorehouse.

This morning is another chance to discover the beauty of Lake St Clair, with a guided 10 km (3 hour) walk following the edge of Lake St Clair out to Echo Point. This walk covers a small section of the Overland Track. From Echo Point you'll take a 20 minute water transfer back to Cynthia Bay and have a unique opportunity to view Lake St Clair and its surrounding mountains from the water. After, you'll be whisked back to the Retreat in time to enjoy a warming lunch including freshly baked hot bread straight from the oven delivered to your room to enjoy with cheese and soup from your in-room Larder. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the trails, e-bikes and row boats offered at Pumphouse Point. At the day's end, meet new friends for a fireside drink before a final dinner at the Shorehouse.

Your final morning at Lake St Clair begins with another freshly baked and locally sourced breakfast followed by time for an optional walk around the Pumphouse grounds to stretch out any sore legs. Your onward journey to Cradle Mountain is via a private helicopter transfer, offering views of lakes, mountains and lush wilderness at you fly over Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park landing near Dove Lake. You will be met here and transferred to Cradle Mountain Lodge where you spend the next two nights. Enjoy gentle walks around the lodge grounds this afternoon, and relax in your private outdoor hot tub - only available in your exclusive King Billy Suite. Tonight is a free evening to dine at one of the Lodge's relaxed restaurants or bars.
After breakfast at the lodge, meet your private guide for today’s alpine hike to Crater Lake and Marion’s Lookout. Walking with your experienced guide you will be led towards the towering peaks of Cradle Mountain passing alpine lakes and abundant wildlife - particularly wombats – as you climb higher. Arriving at Marion’s Lookout is the perfect reward for tired legs, with dramatic alpine views overlooking the aptly named Crater Lake. Lunch is enjoyed on the trail today and, track permitting, you will then visit Dove Lake before returning to the lodge. This afternoon you will have time to recuperate in your hot tub or perhaps visit the renowned Waldheim Alpine Spa (bookings recommended) to enjoy the spa facilities with panoramic views to the valley below. A free evening follows, which we recommend finishing with a complimentary port by the fire.

Depart Cradle Mountain Lodge after breakfast for the private transfer to Freycinet National Park stopping for a coffee on the way and arriving in time for lunch at Saffire Freycinet. This afternoon join your private guide for a walk to Mt Amos for views over the white sand beach and turquoise waters of world-renowned Wineglass Bay. You'll return in time for a glass of wine in the lounge at sunset, before a degustation dinner showcasing Tasmanian produce and wines in acclaimed Palate restaurant.

Enjoy breakfast at Saffire this morning and discuss your plans for the day with the activities host. Today you have the option of enjoying one of Saffire’s included experiences such as visiting a local oyster farm, kayaking in a lagoon with the Hazards as a backdrop, or perhaps joining a cooking class hosted by Saffire’s chef. Alternatively enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the panoramic lounge or in your private villa with premium local wines available to enjoy. Tonight, another degustation dinner awaits with the chef able to tailor your courses to suit your preferred style of dining. Local produce and wines are showcased throughout the evening, and you will enjoy views to the Hazard Mountains as you dine.

Enjoy a leisurely start today and a freshly prepared breakfast in the restaurant, before one last chance to enjoy the views while having a coffee in the lounge or back in your villa. Your private driver will meet you mid-morning for your transfer back to Hobart (or your next destination). For guests combining their journey with the Maria Island Walk, you will be dropped to Triabunna in time to meet your walk group mid-morning.
